Services

There are some cost recovery fees associated with our services & equipment. Please inquire by contacting the Librarian. We will let you know about applicable fees in the initial response to your request.

Reference & Referral

The Library Staff will be happy to answer reference questions via analog or digital means. We cannot conduct in-depth research (reading, summarizing, analyzing). Library staff have access to many indexing and abstracting services. We will be happy to conduct literature searches with provision of search terms.

The library can also help develop bibliographies on special topics. Please contact staff directly to discuss the scope of your bibliography request.

We will also refer you to other libraries, agencies, or individuals that may be more useful or appropriate for your research.

Interlibrary Lending & Borrowing

Many libraries will not lend materials to individuals not in their service area. We facilitate borrowing items for customers.

Requests to borrow materials can take anywhere from 1 hour to 6 weeks. There is a maximum of 10 items per person, per day. Exceptions can be processed at the cost of $2 per item. A person may have 5 books checked out via interlibrary loan at one time. Item lists will be held and processed in a round robin.

Photocopying

The Library complies with Fair Use Guidelines and Copyright Law. If staff determine that the copies being requested are outside these guidelines, we will not make the copy. The customer will be notified of the limitation. We will provide 10 items per person per day. Any items above this limit will be charged $2 per day.

Delivery

The Library will use the fastest and most efficient means of delivery to get information to customers. These are some of our options, in order of preference. We will be happy to negotiate each situation to our mutual satisfaction.

1. Most items will be made available electronically. Following Copyright Law, an email will be sent to the customer with the file as an attachment or details for downloading the file. File size will determine the means of electronic delivery.

2. Federal Express or other overnight service: If you need overnight delivery of printed copy, please provide an account number for charging.

3. The U.S. Postal Service is our preferred delivery method for printed copies.

4. Personal delivery by Library staff is also an option if offices are within reasonable driving distances or on staff commuting routes.

Determination of Free Services

The library staff base the decision for charging for services based upon several factors, including affiliation with government agencies, the Columbia Basin Fish & Wildlife Program, and non-profit status. Please call the librarian directly if you have questions about cost recovery charges. 503-736-3581
